A COUPLE of evenings ago BBC Wales televised the response of First Minister Carwyn Jones to the Pisa report on the abysmally low standards of education in Wales. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing; complacency didn’t even begin to describe his attitude to the questions of the opposition. But then, why should he care? Like Newport Council’s stance over the mural fiasco, the WAG and the Welsh Labour Party have got built-in immunity to any criticism. Come the next round of elections, most of the same politicians who have caused the problems will be back in office and carry on just as before.
To the big world on the other side of the River Severn witnessing the goings-on in Cardiff, they must think Wales has some sort of political death wish with no hope of redemption.
