FURTHER to comments in the Argus by Ian Young and Brian Donovan, Newport council has announced planning application number 13/1279 for 248 dwellings at the Glebelands in St Julian’s (Argus, 4th January 2014).
Although Newport council recently agreed that the development should be subject to Environmental Impact Assessment, a bizarre ruling by council planners means that the developer was only required to assess the impacts of the 248 houses, rather than the combined impacts of the entire school and housing project. The resulting reports are worthless.
Residents have until 25th January to make their feelings known to council officers and councillors.
It is difficult to find details about a specific planning application on the Newport council website, so those wanting a list of relevant internet links are welcome to email me at steve.rawlings@chepstowfoe.org.uk Steve Rawlings Researcher Chepstow Friends of the Earth
