EVERYONE is now sick and tired of the wet windy weather. While large swathes of Somerset have been under water for weeks, it is only when the affluent area of the Thames is affected that the media and politicians go into overdrive, where the military arrive immediately.
We are talking of an area where the riverside houses frequently change hands for millions. Many owners will have their own boats moored alongside.
If you buy a property near a river or on a floodplain you must accept the risk that at some stage it will be flooded.
No one is to blame for the situation as the weather is uncontrollable.
I have the utmost sympathy for everyone affected. Never having suffered flooding myself I cannot imagine how awful it must be.
The situation is the same for both prince and pauper, politicians should treat situations and the media should report on merit, not on geography. Alun Parker Undy
