I WAS interested to read Mr Deacon’s letter about his issues with bin and recycling collections.
I have read many different views berating rubbish and recycling collections in Torfaen but it is not down to the council not doing their job properly, at least not every time. I have seen black bins left right and centre with lids half open and bags of rubbish wedged inside, sometimes with plastic bottles and other recyclables spilling out and blowing across the grass and roads.
I have also seen recycling boxes half emptied with objects left behind including coat hangers, draining racks and even washing up bowls. The council will indeed leave these items as they are not currently recycled in Torfaen. Cardboard is also placed in some recycling boxes instead of the blue bag so obviously that won’t get collected. Nets are provided from the council for the recycling box, so there really is no reason for rubbish or recycling to blow about. On a final note, the information on what can and cannot be collected is freely available on the website and updated regularly.
