TODAY I read my old pal, Brian Donovan’s letter, referring to the proposal for more houses on the Glebe. I too would be against this, which was part of the school deal, but I don’t think flooding is a major issue.
I suppose this possibility can form part of Brian’s anti-campaign, but he’s clutching at straws, I feel. The pitches on the Glebe were flooded which is no big surprise – so were hundreds around the West Country. Even Rodney Parade was unplayable.
Given the extreme weather in recent months, a question for the Anti gang to answer; when other low lying areas in Newport were flooded, why wasn’t the school on Glebelands flooded? Or the Indoor Bowling Centre or the rugby club.
I don’t think pursuing this line will have much impact Brian.
