WHAT is it about Julian R. Powell that he has to inflict his miserable and depressing negativity on the rest of us? In his attack on Charles Ferris and the Newport Medieval Ship in Wednesday’s Argus he does nothing but smear a man who has personally raised thousands of pounds for a charity aimed at bringing a major attraction to Newport.
The City Council is undergoing swingeing cuts in its funding and is unable to provide the finance that could enable this unique ship to be included in the present redevelopment of Newport.
But others, especially the Friends of the Newport Ship, are doing everything they can to raise fresh funding. If they succeed it will contribute towards the regeneration of the city, and who knows, maybe help reduce job losses, the number of derelict shops and the need for food banks.
