ON March 20 I was privileged to attend a magnificent performance by actor Elizabeth Craver at the Riverfront Theatre. Her depiction of the militant suffragette Emily Wilding Davison was powerful, poignant and a brilliant exposition of physical acting.

However, few young people were present, which is a shame as this was a stronger antidote to the Russell Brand anti-politics philosophy than any Newsnight interview.

I suspect that in the future, people (and not just young women) will be just as incredulous about the barriers to female ordination in the Catholic Church as Emily and her courageous contemporaries were about votes for women. The struggle continues.
