IT HAS been proposed that we lose the services of our school crossing patrol lady (our dear Rose) from operating on the pelican crossing on Edlogan Road, Croesyceiliog.
It’s bad enough that frontline services have been cut. But to sack a long-standing and well loved servant of our community on the spurious grounds that the pelican crossing is safe without her is ignorant of the facts.
Cars and vans have been known to drive through the red lights. Cars speed along this part of the road as it’s situated in the middle of two traffic calming points.
There is a high volume of traffic using the road. The pelican crossing is badly maintained with the approaching coloured areas badly worn out as is the red marked area which is also a trip hazard. I urge Councillor Cunningham to keep all the school crossing patrols. £60,000 in savings doesn’t equate to the loss of a life!
