NEWS coverage over the last seven days has quite rightly focused on the bravery and heroism displayed by our gallant fighting men during the D-Day landings of seventy years ago.
I just wonder how those thousands of men and women who sacrificed their lives for their country in the fight against dictatorship and tyranny throughout Europe would view the situation today, had they still been alive.
The country they fought and won the war for is now, to all intents and purposes, being dictated to by a bunch of non-elected bureaucrats, who happen to be hugely influenced by the very country we fought against all those years ago.
The dwindling number of survivors from that conflict must surely be asking themselves today what it was all for.
