MANY years ago, huge numbers of people had to leave Ireland because of the famine. They settled all over the world.
My family came here, where conditions were better even then. They never went back.
I’m in my 60s, and born and bred here. I’ve lived through many changes, but I find it unbelievable a crowd of non-EU, asylum seekers have travelled here, through many other safe countries, and staged a very loud demonstration, to complain about conditions here. They want benefits, houses and jobs – what a shock.
A strange way to thank the country offering them a safe haven.
