I SHARE the reactions of Mr Ian Brown. The pool was to one of the best social assets that the people of Newport had, and as he states was of great benefit to the poor.
I used to take my grandchildren there, and always came away with the feeling that it was an arena of happiness and pleasure to child and adult alike.
Can it be that councillors, like some parliamentarians, have little concept of what is most beneficial to the public? Am I pipe-dreaming in suggesting that the public could be asked if they were prepared to have a little extra added to their council tax to maintain the pool? I think the answer would be yes.
