WHERE were all the moaners on Sunday afternoon, those who complain that nothing takes place in Newport of a high standard of music?

They were certainly absent from the Riverfront Theatre, where Tredegar Town Band and Gwent Youth Band performed together. This gala concert, as it was advertised, was of the highest standard. The youth of Gwent performed with the crème de la crème of brass bands, the British champions. What an honour for the young people and for the small number of people who witnessed this awe-inspiring concert. It was a never-to-be-forgotten experience. Well done, Gwent Youth Brass Band and congratulations to Tredegar Town Band, may you continue to go further up the ladder.
