I HAVE been reading in the national press of ideas being proposed by the health secretary, Jeremy Hunt, to charge migrant and EU patients who receive medical treatment through the NHS.
At the present time, The NHS is only recouping 16 per cent of the costs of such treatment. These health tourists are expected to pay 100 per cent of the cost of any treatment they receive and are expected to pay afterwards. This, many fail to do, leaving us, the British, to pay the bills with increased taxes.
Surely, if these people can afford to come to our country by whatever means, they should be charged up front for the medical treatment they receive. Our NHS is the envy of the world. The NHS is under enough pressure because of the actions of the clowns at Westminster who could not organise a day out at a brewery.
