IN REPLY to the front page of the Argus on Wednesday, July 16, Council Chiefs Talking of Fines to Parents of Children out of School Terms.
Please note the councils are one of the main bodies in keeping children out of school, but never has one councillor been fined.
Case 1 – Schools shut by councils for use in polling stations, no fines issued.
Case 2 – Schools shut for strikes, no fines issued.
Case 3 – Sadly a councillor passes away (no disrespect to the family, just stating facts of councillors’ acts) certain schools shut for the funeral, no fines issued to councillors.
Case 4 – So called NATO in town, big deal. Kids off school for six weeks but government choose to have a meeting when schools are due to open. What happens if certain schools have got to shut is the government going to pay fines for having children out of school for the September meeting.
Councillors you are a laughing stock of Newport, parents should ask for you to be in court, not you taking them to court.
