HAVING CAERPHILLY Council Car Park charges for parking at its five country parks. just read an online report about the Caerphilly council meeting on July 16 16/08/14, I am disappointed at the way the members seem to have totally disregarded the views of many residents – including a petition signed by 3,000 people – who raised concerns about the charges for car parking in its five country parks, about charging for parking at its Country Parks. There appears not to have been much discussion and a dismissive attitude towards the objections that were put forward.
These charges will deter many residents from walking in these parks, which is useful for general health and vital, for instance, for rehabilitation after heart surgery. Being able to take less exercise, many people will find themselves back in the NHS system for reasons of poor health. Shame on you CCBC!
I understand the council is looking to bring in £80,000, and based on income figures that I have heard from its other car parks, this may have been achievable by bringing charges at Bargoed Town’s main car park in line with all the others within Caerphilly County. Charges have never been introduced there, I don’t think.
I would also be interested to know which councillors voted in these charges against the wishes of many, many constituents.
