BLAENAVON community fought bitterly to have their pool replaced when it was demolished. They are resigned, now, six years later, to the fact they will not get their pool replaced. In spite of ‘consultations’, and a promise by their council.
Is Monmouth heading the same way? The pool will be demolished in February 2015 because the land is required by the council. The council promise to build a new pool in Monmouth.
We mustn’t be fooled into thinking that a rectangular block of colour on a map is, in any way, a commitment by Monmouthshire County Council, to build a new pool. At the moment the new pool is just that, a block of colour on a piece of paper.
A promise has been made but so was a promise made to Blaenavon six years ago.
