ARGUS editor Kevin Ward says “I want to see more candidates out on the knocker, talking to real people about the real issues that affect them... But how many have knocked on your door, or delivered a leaflet, or called you to ask for your vote?” (Argus, April 10).
I can’t speak for other constituencies, but I know that in Islwyn and Caerphilly, Labour’s Chris Evans and Wayne David are out knocking doors every day, talking to residents and, just as importantly, listening to people.
They may not be able to contact every voter in their constituencies by 7th May, but they and their Labour campaign teams are trying to reach as many residents as possible. Readers would expect me to say that Chris and Wayne are getting a really positive response on the doorsteps – but having been out campaigning with both of them, I’m delighted to say that it’s true!
Cllr Gez Kirby, Pontllanfraith
