IT SEEMS a day doesn’t go by without David Cameron or someone in the Welsh Conservative Party condemning the Welsh NHS. They say that things would be vastly better if we were under the English NHS.
As someone with experience of the NHS, I would suggest the commentators do not know what they are talking about and are simply trying to deflect attention from their failings. Last year, I had a heart attack and used all the services available and received fantastic treatment. My doctor saw me immediately when arrived at his surgery and carried out an ECG. He confirmed my condition and sent me to the Royal Gwent Hospital.
On arrival, I was dealt with professionally by all the doctors and nurses despite the unit being extremely busy. The ward nurses and subsequent occupational therapist at St Woolos were fantastic. The food and care were excellent. My daughter and sister in law are under the English NHS and their treatment stories are horrendous. Everyone I know who has used the service has no complaints.
