IN REPLY to Paul Botto’s letter of April 22, I was, until recently, a member of the Welsh Christian Party and during my membership I stood in various places in South Wales, including Bettws, in several elections. When I stood in the Vale of Glamorgan, I personally went round every local church in the Vale (about 85 of them) and very few supported us. Most of them said that they did not believe in Christianity and politics mixing. So we had no support from them. It was the same in the Rhondda Canon Taff area.
The Bible tells Christians to pray for the governments and leaders of the nation in which we live. See 1 Timothy chapter 2 verses 1 to 3. So, if Christians do not get out and vote then this country will be the poorer for the lack of Christians standing up for what is right.
Christians need to get out and start voting to try to stop the evil which is being allowed by governments in our name, like abortion and other bad things, which recent governments have allowed to come into being.
John Harrold, Lodden Close, Bettws, Newport.
