PLAID CYMRU leader Leanne Wood has stated that in the event of a hung parliament she may not support a Labour government after May 7; this will come as no surprise to many. Nationalism and Conservatism both suffer from a narrow, insular, inward-looking world view that denies the realities of our interconnected world.
Many will know that the SNP and the Tories worked hand in glove to keep the SNP in power in Holyrood from 2007 to 2011, with Tories voting for SNP polices on no fewer than 360 occasions.
It is telling that the Tories, who tell us they are a unionist party, are happy to work with forces whose whole purpose is to break up the Union.
Many will also remember that it was SNP and Plaid Cymru MPs who brought down the Labour government in 1979, leading to 18 years of Tory rule. Leanne’s willingness to help the Tories will surprise no-one.
Cllr Nigel Dix, Montclaire Avenue, Blackwood
