I RECENTLY spent 11 days in the Royal Gwent Coronary Care unit. The 999 controller was very reassuring to my partner, giving clear, calm advice. The first responder and ambulance arrived within 10 minutes. They too were calm in their approach and I felt in very safe hands.
I feel compelled to share with others the first class care I received during my stay. It was a difficult time, however, the compassion, care and total professionalism from the nursing staff made me feel very safe.
I cannot express highly enough my gratitude to Mr Philip Campbell and his team, the wonderful nurses on coronary care ward D3W together with the A&E and re-sus teams. I would also like to mention the good quality food and the cleanliness of the ward. This indeed was the NHS at its best.
