THE Labour group on Caerphilly council is once again attempting to pull the wool over the eyes of residents of Caerphilly county borough.
I refer to the Argus report “Labour blasted by Plaid for its cabinet waste”.
In response, a Labour spokesman said that Plaid Cymru had the opportunity to reduce the number of cabinet members when it ran the council, but chose not to.
The difference is that the Labour Party increased from nine to 10 the number of cabinet members when it took control of the authority in 2012 and, ever since, has resisted all appeals to cut numbers to the level of the former Plaid Cymru administration.
This would save around £25,000 a year, money that could be used to protect frontline services.
Readers can judge for themselves the priorities of the Labour Party.
