SOME open questions to Councillor Bob Bright, leader of Newport City Council – given that NCC will not enable proper public consultation on their seemingly good plan to turn St Julian’s Park/Woods into a nature reserve:
1) Would NCC restrict access to the woods, e.g. during evening-to-morning hours or during Celtic Manor conferences?
2) Would such closures be limited in frequency?
3) What would be the size and location of the forest school?
4) Given that the walking experience in the woods is primarily visual, would consideration be given to hiding/disguising any structure, building, sign, gate, post, road, hard path or ancillary component e.g. by placing it out of the way between the M4 and southern perimeter and surrounding it with trees/shrubs?
5) Regarding the associated litter and delivery vehicle problems, would there be an intention to supply food to visitors?
6) Would there be an intention to introduce artificial lighting into the woods. Please supply details.
7) Would permission be required to take photographs in the woods?
8) Would the Celtic Manor be held responsible for costs to NCC and/or the general public resulting from security measures in, or potential closure of, the park during high level conferences?
