I TRAVELLED from Edinburgh to take part in the Velothon and would like to thank the people of Caerphilly, and indeed the whole area, for the fantastic welcome the riders received on Sunday.
It was my first visit to Wales and I was blown away by your magnificent castle, the scenery and, most of all, the number of people who were lining the route, cheering and clapping us on.
The hill climb out of the town in particular had a fiesta atmosphere with lots of residents out on the streets, people playing musical instruments, ringing cowbells and lots of encouraging placards.
I have ridden sportives all over the UK and further afield and this was the best reception and most fun one yet.
Thank you, Caerphilly and Wales.
