WHILEST I await full replies from Mr Bob Bright and NCC to all of my questions regarding St Julian’s Woods/Park, here are a few more:
What is the new deadline for comments via a councillor? Whilest I am in favour of the protection that LNR status would afford this beautiful tranquil place of visual and audible delight, I have grave doubts about the introduction of Forest Schools eg:
With what degree of certainty can we be assured that there would be no danger to the survival of such shy species as the woodpecker?;
Would there not be a danger that the hollow ways and ancient tracks would be worn away through constant use by parties of children?; Would there not be a danger that some local children would be encouraged to venture into the woods unaccompanied following a Forest School experience?;
Given the relatively small size and special wilderness nature of these woods, why would Wentwood Forest and Allt-yr-yn LNR not be sufficient to satisfy our Forest School needs?
In the words of Joni Mitchell in her environmentally-aware song of the 60s, “Big Yellow Taxi”, “You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone.”
