THE Tories' war on low-paid working families will continue for the next five years, with more and more working families claiming tax credits and using foodbanks.
The only solution is to make the living wage law, so that families will not need to claim any welfare. The government could provide tax breaks to companies to help pay their workers the living wage and it might encourage them to employ new staff. Families on the living wage would also pay more taxes.
Now the government are chasing thousands of people for overpayments due to the Department for Work and Pensions’ failure in their jobs. Sadly, only Plaid and the Greens in Wales were against continuing with the austerity plan, with both Labour and Lib Dems voting with the Tories for £12 billion welfare cuts for future governments.
