I READ with interest the other day that despite the billions in grant and aid given to Wales the economy is performing no better than 17 years ago, also there was light at the end of the tunnel if the economy of Cardiff is booming. I for one will not be sending uncle Carwyn a bottle of champagne, all it proves to me that over the last two decades you spend virtually every penny of Wales’ capital in one city, you borrow vast sums of money on PFI contracts and spend in the same place.
You subsidise if not nationalise every business in the city, you swell the state payroll by eye-watering levels with thousands of daft, silly non-jobs. If you shut universities in adjoining cities and move into the same place, voila, you can make a city boom. Although sadly you cannot spend taxpayers’ money twice and my God the residents of Newport know that!
