CREDIT where credit is due!
At seven minutes past midnight on September 20 I filled in a Newport Council on-line form to report that a lamp post on Beaufort Road had been leaning precariously for several weeks.
As this is directly opposite St Julians Nursery and Primary school, I classed it as an emergency.
I was expecting the repair to be completed within 5 days but was amazed to find that council workmen were dealing with the problem less than 9 hours later.
A similar thing happened a few months ago when I reported a tree leaning equally precariously not far from the lamp post.
This was dealt with, with equal speed.
Unfortunately, unlike the lamp post, the tree could not be saved.
NCC assured me that the tree will be replaced in due course.
On this occasion, it is well done to Newport City Council for getting your priorities right.
