I WOULD like to thank Graham Osborne for his reply regarding ‘The legend of the so-called Risca Cuckoo.’ So there is no historical evidence to prove that the people of Risca tried to fence in a cuckoo? And the story is all based on hearsay passed down from generation to generation – in other words, fiction?
This brings me back to my theory on the Risca Cuckoo – that Risca pinched Pontymister’s nest – and you, Mr Osborne strengthen my theory.
You stated in the letter column February 22, that a statue of the cuckoo was going to be erected in Risca, but in actual fact it’s in Pontymister.
Who’s looking silly now!
Michael West, Machen Close, Pontymister
