MANAGERS at a bar in Newport have been left devastated after a break-in at the city centre venue.

Bar Amber posted that their premises were burgled on Monday, January 8, where lots of damage was caused and cash stolen.

Gwent Police have confirmed they received a report of a burglary on the High Street at around 9.25am on January 8.

According to the force, one man wearing a face covering entered the sports bar and stole cash.

A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: “We are investigating a report of a burglary at Bar Amber in High Street, Newport, at around 9.25am on Monday 8 January.

"A man, wearing a face covering, entered the premises and reportedly stole cash.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, is asked to call 101 or send us a direct message on social media, quoting log reference 2400007917.

"You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 with details.”

Bar Amber staff say they are devastated by the break-in and praised McCanns, Le Pub and Cocos for their help yesterday morning.

Their statement on social media reads: “To say we are devastated is an understatement, lots of damage and financial costs incurred. Hopefully, there will be some evidence to find the culprit.

“We want to thank the volunteers who gave their time and effort, also thank you to Mccans, Le Pub and Cocos for your help.”
