A Pontypool rugby club manager is in a critical condition in intensive care after being taken ill last week.
Pontypool RFC posted on its Facebook page on Wednesday (November 13) to say that team manager Ryan Thomas had been taken to hospital.
The post said: "We’re saddened to advise that team manager Ryan Thomas was admitted into intensive care at the end of last week and remains in a critical condition.
"Our thoughts are with Ryan’s family during this incredibly difficult time and we know you’ll all join us in wishing Ryan a full recovery."
The Facebook post has over 100 comments wishing Mr Thomas well and showing support for his family and friends at this time.
Among the well wishers are other rugby clubs from across South Wales, showing the community within the game.
Cross Keys Rugby Club commented on the Pontypool's post, saying: "Sending our best wishes to Ryan and his family at this difficult time and all at Pontypool RFC, from all at the Keys."
Abergavenny Rugby Football Club also commented on the Facebook post, adding: "Our club and community send our best wishes for a full and speedy recovery. Our thoughts, love and support are with Tor, Teddy, Sian and the rest of his family during this unbelievably difficult time."
A spokesperson for Crumlin Rugby Football Club added: "Our thoughts and wishes are with Bear and his family at this difficult time, we wish you a speedy recovery from all at Crumlin Rugby Football Club."
Pontypool RFC play in the Super Rygbi Cymru league.
Their last game was an away win against Swansea Rugby Football Club on Thursday October, 24, where Pontypool won convincingly.
Pontypool were up 12-10 at the break and then went on to blow away the home side and ran out comfortable winners, racking up a final score of 43-10.
Their next game is due to be played against Aberavon Rugby Football Club on Saturday, November 23.
