Lidl has proved this week the importance of the saying “don’t judge a book by its cover” with its new £12.49 Veuve Delattre Champagne Brut NV.
While many would dispute you could find a good Champagne for such a low price, Which? has proved you can.
The Lidl Champagne has been recognised by Which? for its ‘Great Value’ as part of its annual Champagne report. The results of the expert, blind taste-test scored Lidl’s £11.99 Veuve Delattre Champagne Brut NV at 77%, beating some of the top Champagne houses.
Which? commented that Lidl’s Champagne was: “the cheapest on test, yet it outshone many pricier rivals”.
The value drink received a higher rating than some of the top Champagne brands including Moët & Chandon Brut Imperial N/V, Piper-Heidsieck Brut, Taittinger Brut Reserve and Aldi Philizot et Fils Blanc de Noir.
Richard Bampfield, Lidl’s Master of Wine, commented: “The results of this expert blind-tasting are a well-deserved endorsement for what truly is a great value bottle of Champagne. Proving once again that Lidl cannot be beaten on price or quality! Lidl’s Veuve Delattre Champagne Brut NV is a brilliant option for those looking to save and impress over the festive period.”
Lidl’s Veuve Delattre Champagne Brut NV is available in stores nationwide.
