'Why don't you get out from behind your desk?' is the sort of comment our website readers sometimes make under stories. It's good advice. Being behind a desk for 10 hours isn't good for your back, as much as anything.
Our reporters work hard, and that does mean spending an amount of time at the computer rattling out stories.
But I want to dispel this notion that they don't get out of the office. We get them out as much as possible. Breaking news incidents and weekend events are good examples of this.
Last weekend saw Newport Pride and our newest reporter Chloe Atkinson was there through the afternoon. You might have read her report or seen her Facebook Live videos. We also had some great pictures sent in by a friendly photographer.
Getting into the community is essential for a good reporter and I'm pleased we have a young team who are enthusiastic about doing it. If there are places you'd like to see our reporters - whether it's local cafes and community centres they could pick up stories, or events you suggest we cover, please let us know.
Speaking of friendly photographers, I'm very grateful to our Argus camera club members. If you're not aware of it, it's a Facebook group of people who love taking pictures of the area, who share their photos with each other in the group. We'll publish some of the best in the paper and our social media channels too.
I recently invited on our of our loyal camera club members, Jim Cousins, into the office for a tour and to say thank you.
Like many of our enthusiastic camera clubbers, Jim has a love of local and a keen eye for detail. Readers like Jim are often our eyes in the field, because no matter how much we send reporters out, they can't be everywhere.

I think Jim enjoyed meeting our team and learning more about what we do, but it was great for me to chat to him about what he enjoys about the paper and website too. Feedback really helps me to make decisions about what we prioritise in future.
Please do email me any comments or thoughts, or if you'd like to come in for a look around - just as long as you don't mind me picking your brains over a coffee afterwards. And thank you for subscribing.
