A LOOK down the list of players in the Lancashire side against us in the County Championship today shows the size of the task facing us in Colwyn Bay – but it’s a challenge that we are relishing.
We head into the game on the back of a 10-wicket win against Worcestershire and that terrific performance has filled us with confidence.
To win so convincingly after struggling in our opener against Northamptonshire showed real character and more of the same will be needed against Lancashire.
England star Jimmy Anderson is set to lead their attack and they also boast Australia’s Simon Katich and South Africa’s Ashwell Prince, while they are led by Glen Chapple.
Lanca-shire won the title in 2011 and have plenty of guys that are used to Division One cricket, so it’s going to be a really tough test.
They are a quality side that will expect to get out of Division Two but if we can produce another good performance and notch another win then it would really set us up nicely.
The games come thick and fast this month so momentum is key and hopefully our good record at Colwyn Bay can continue.
A lot of teams perceive it as a flat, batsman-friendly pitch but bowlers can enjoy plenty of success if they bowl wicket-to-wicket, looking to hit the stumps.
Maybe that little bit of local knowledge can give us a slight edge at a venue we always like playing at.
It’s a bit different to the Swalec Stadium for me as an analyst with a plush media centre swapped for a tent with cables and wires everywhere.
But I love being close to the action and the atmosphere is terrific. Hopefully the home fans will have plenty to cheer about over the next few days.
