ST JOSEPH’S star Lee Selby beat Viorel Simion in Hull tonight to win the WBC international featherweight title.
The Barry boxer, who trains with Tony Borg at St Joes in Newport, earned a unanimous points victory over the previously unbeaten Romanian who is fourth in the WBC world rankings.
Selby dominated for the first seven rounds and survived a late rally by Simion to win 118-110, 115-113 and 116-112 on the judges’ scorecards.
With the 17th win of his pro career the 26-year-old added the WBC international featherweight belt to his British and Commonwealth titles.
