NEWPORT Gwent Dragons will host Northampton and Wasps at Rodney Parade in the coming season’s LV= Cup, writes Chris Kirwan.
Lyn Jones’ side start their campaign at Welsh rivals Scarlets and end the group stages at Newcastle, who are back in the Aviva Premiership after a season in the Championship.
Last season the Dragons lost to the Scarlets twice in the RaboDirect Pro12, home and away to Wasps in the Amlin Challenge Cup and the Saints also triumphed at Rodney Parade in the LV= Cup, despite a Tonderai Chavhanga hat-trick.
The region last played Newcastle in the Anglo-Welsh Cup in October 2008, running out 25-14 victors in Newport.
The Falcons, coached by former England and Lions number eight Dean Richards, thrashed both Newport and Cross Keys home and away in the British and Irish Cup last season.
The tournament follows the usual format of teams playing those from another pool with the team ranked first progressing to the semi-finals.
