NEWPORT County have appointed Tim Lane as football secretary and media officer.
Lane arrives at Rodney Parade from the Football Association of Wales, where he spent seven years in the international department and seven in the compliance department.
Lane said: “I am privileged to be offered this position at a very exciting time for Newport County AFC and being from Gwent makes it all the more special.
“I’ve enjoyed my 14 years at the FAW and am now looking forward to building on the success that the club has already achieve both on and off the field.”
Lane is recognised as a top-quality administrator with experience of working with FIFA, UEFA, FAW, Football League and a first class knowledge of the FA rules and regulations.
County chairman Les Scadding said: “We are delighted to have been able to attract somebody of Tim’s undoubted experience and quality for what is going to be a vital role going forward for the club and at an important time.
“This is another stage of the club evolving in to a Football League club. We had a very high calibre of applicants, which speaks volumes for how the club is thought of.”
Lane will take up his role in September and will replace Mike Everett, a founder member and life member of Newport County AFC who could take up another role with the Exiles.
“On behalf of everybody that has been involved with the Exiles over the last 25 years I would like to thank Mike for his loyal and valued service to the club,” said Scadding.
“We hope that he will continue to be involved with the club going forward as we continue our journey”.
