CHRISTIAN Jolley knows he has a fight on even to be selected for Newport County AFC this term, but that hasn’t stopped him setting targets.

The former Wimbledon man, who joined Newport in January last season after a successful loan spell, vowed to bag 15 goals for the club as they pushed for Conference National promotion.

Jolley ended up with exactly the number of goals he’d promised, firing number 15 at Wembley as Newport reached League Two in glorious fashion.

However, this term Jolley is keen to demonstrate his all-round game and that includes his ability to set up goals for others.

“I hit my goal target at Wembley last season and I was pretty happy with that, but this season, as I’ve got a full season here, I’ve got three aims,” he explained.

“The first is to not get injured, I want to go the whole campaign without missing out so I can battle and keep my place in the team.

“Goals wise, I’m probably hoping for the same again, 15 goals but, of course, I’d accept a few more!”

“But I want to get at least ten assists on top of that.

“I would be very happy with that, that’s my aim.”
