NEWPORT County AFC have mixed news on the injury front ahead of Saturday's big League Two season opener against Accrington Stanley with Robbie Willmott passed fit to play but Mike Flynn ruled out.
Both players picked up injuries in the pre-season friendly against a Reading XI, which ended as a 3-3 draw last week.
Willmott (shoulder) has recovered in time to be available, despite initial fears that he would be out for up to a month.
But Flynn's hamstring tear means he will not play any part in Saturday's historic match at Rodney Parade – the club's first Football League match since May 1988.
He is hopeful that he will be available for the Capital One Cup match at Brighton and Hove Albion on Tuesday night.
"Robbie is fit and ready to play having trained for the last few days," said Exiles boss Justin Edinburgh.
"That is a massive boost for us but it will come too quickly for Mike Flynn."
