Former Newport County, Swindon and Portsmouth defender Steve Aizlewood has died aged 60 following a short illness.
Aizlewood, whose brother Mark is manager at Welsh Premier League club Carmarthen Town and a former Wales international, joined his home-town club Newport in 1968 and went on to make 197 appearances, scoring 18 goals and was capped by Wales under-21s before he signed for Swindon in 1976.
Three seasons later Aizlewood joined Portsmouth and then played in the Southern League for Waterlooville before retiring in 1984, when he later worked as a surveyor.
A family spokesman said Aizlewood, who passed away in the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport, leaves a wife Val and a son, Simon.
