BEDWAS entertained newly promoted Henley Hawks in their first pre-season friendly as both sides looked to blow away the cobwebs.
Bedwas fielded different sides in each half, the second featuring several Dragons players who also need game time following the cancellation of their pre-season trip to France.
The first half saw nine new faces in the starting XV and Bedwas scored through number eight Phil Rees after 12 minutes.
The second half saw the introduction of several Dragons players and again both sides put in a big physical effort.
Henley scored a good try after 58 minutes via Will Woodward and Elliott Markham’s conversion put his side ahead.
Bedwas continued to try to get back into the game and were rewarded with a try after 75 minutes by Ross Wardle following a good break by James Thomas. Jason Tovey successfully added the conversion and Bedwas held on for victory.
Bedwas take on Bargoed RFC at the Park, Bargoed, on Wednesday at 7pm in their next pre-season friendly.
