GLAMORGAN head of elite performance Matthew Mott will leave the club at the end of the season while overseas batsman Marcus North is making an early return to Australia.

Mott will end a three-year spell at the Swalec Stadium when his contract expires at the end of the season.

“I would personally like to thank Matthew for his contribution to the club over the past three years," said Glamorgan chief executive Alan Hamer.

"I’ve enjoyed working with him and I wish him and his family the very best for the future. As soon as the current season has ended, we will commence the process of identifying a new first XI coach.

"Our immediate focus is on winning our final two Yorkshire Bank 40 group matches and to finish as high as possible in the LV County Championship.”

The 39-year-old Australian has overseen a challenging year in the four-day game with Glamorgan sitting one from bottom of the Division Two table with five games left.

They have fared better in the one-day format but failed to make the quarter-finals of the Friends Life t20 despite winning their opening four fixtures.

Glamorgan are third in Group C of the YB40 and need to win their final two games, against Leicestershire in Swansea on Sunday and Yorkshire in Leeds on Monday, to stand any chance of making the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, former Test batsman North will head back Down Under after the match against Yorkshire.

He is heading home to Western Australia to prepare for next month’s Champions League and the start of the domestic season.

It is unlikely that the left-hander, who has skippered Glamorgan in one-day cricket, will return as an overseas professional next year.

North, who played 21 Tests for Australia, has scored just 354 runs at an average of 23.60 in the County Championship this season and his only ton of 2013 came against Middlesex in the YB40 at Lord’s.
