NEWPORT Squash Rackets Club picked up a hoard of trophies at the Wales Squash and Racketball annual presentation awards dinner held in Cardiff’s Holiday Inn.
The first team of Greg Tippings, David Haley, Dan Bergin, Tej Singh Saran, Jacob Minnett and Adam Evans won the South Wales Premier League outright, finishing top of the league in both the first and second halves of the season.
Not to be outdone, the second team of Andrew Harris, Mark Huxtable, Ali Hale, Richard Imm, Chris Lovett and Mike Dickens came top in Premier B.
Newport will now be fielding two teams in the Premier A Division next season.
Tippings was also awarded the high performance coach of the year title.
Also in attendance at the ceremony were Katie Jones, Kieran Hillman, and Lewis Clements who received certificates of achievement and were presented with Welsh caps by Tippings.
The trio finished as silver medallists when representing Wales in the under-13s at the Five Nations Championships earlier in the year.
Jenny Haley and David Haley were also presented with certificates of achievement for representing Wales in the girls under-19s European Team Championships in Zurich, Switzerland, and the Men’s senior European Team Championships in Amsterdam, Holland, respectively.
Also mentioned was Jordan Williams’ success in winning the British Closed under-13s title.
