NEWPORT’S bid to again produce the biggest shock in the Capital One Cup is boosted by the availability of defender Tom Naylor, writes Michael Pearlman.

The on-loan Derby County man is available for the Capital One Cup, Johnson’s Paint Trophy and the FA Cup this season as part of the terms of his temporary switch to Rodney Parade.

The Exiles have no new injury problems, however, the Argus understands Edinburgh is likely to tinker with his starting XI. Ryan Jackson, who started at Brighton and Mike Flynn and Tony James, both returned from hamstring injuries, could all feature from the start, as could Danny Crow.

The hosts are likely to rotate their squad more comprehensively, though there are question marks over who will play in goal for the Baggies.

England’s Ben Foster is out with an ankle ligament injury and current Welsh number one Boaz Myhill faces a late fitness test on a wrist injury with third-choice Luke Daniels standing by.

Enigmatic France international Nicolas Anelka, who only joined West Brom a month ago, won’t feature as he ponders retirement and Peter Odemwingie, a transfer target for Swansea and Cardiff is also unlikely to play.

However, new signings Matej Vydra and ex-Swan Scott Sinclair should give the Exiles plenty to worry about as they are set for debuts following loan moves from Udinese and Man City respectively.
