PANTEG won a tense and closely contested game against Sudbrook at the Deepweir and are now virtually assured of winning Division One of the Glamorgan and Monmouthshire Cricket League and earn a place in the South Wales Premier League.

Panteg scored 266-6 going in first with Lloyd Smith getting 92, Akhtar Balouch 84 and Carwyn James 50).

Sudbrook almost made it as captain Ross Lewis scored 86, Micky Martin 72 and Mark O’Leary 29 but in a dramatic ending, they finished on 260-9.

St Fagans won at Pontypridd and Chepstow lost at home to Penarth who had first knock and managed 282-4 with Tom Sidford making a brilliant 131, Adam Shantry 59 and Jonathan Davies 41 not out.

Tom Smith scored 72 for Chepstow, Jason Dobbie 47 and David Bennett a late 56 but their innings closed on 244-8. Richard Skone returned 10-3-23-3 for the Seasiders.

Blackwood batted first at Pentyrch and reached 248-8 with Cameron Herring scoring 73, Neil Reardon 57 and Richard Matthews 29 not out. Dominic Gambles took 4-52 for Pentyrch and Steve Matthews 2-57.

Gareth Gardiner led the run chase with 59, Matthews made 37, Mike Grossett 31 and Mark Tanner 23 but Pentyrch closed just seven runs short on 241-9.

Tondu overcame bottom side Rogerstone at Bryn Road with the visitors setting a target of 195 all out in which Andy Harris made 50 and his son Luke 35. Nic Miles took 3-22 for the Waterwheelers, Craig Townsend 2-22 and Richard Ready 2-33.

Just like on Saturday when Tondu staged a remarkable last wicket stand to beat Abergavenny, they did something similar again.

They were 67-2 and 110-6 but Ready made 87 not out and with Callum Smeaton (38no) shared a seventh wicket partnership of 86 to win the match for Tondu by four wickets. Andy Harris took 2-28 for Rogerstone.

Croesyceiliog remain top of Division Two after beating Vale by eight wickets.

Huw Morris made 51 as Vale reached 128 all out with Sam Saunders taking 3-20 for Croesy and Lewis Pheasant 3-24. Alex Kryjon (59no) and Stuart Roden (45) then steered Croesy to 129-2.

Barry defeated Welsh Asians , Creigiau won their local derby against Radyr and Malpas chased down 271-7 to beat Newport Fugitives at High Cross.

The Fugitives made 271-7 with David Adams getting 82 with 16 fours and James Didcote 70 wityh a six and 12 fours. Chris Bridges (23), Nigel Prycee (22) and Richard Jones (21) all contributed while Leighton Watts took 3-55 for Malpas.

Dave Martin made 69 off 52 balls with four sixes and seven fours when Malpas batted. David Griffiths made 57 (seven fours), James Francis 47 and Peter Mason was 20 not out when they won by four wickets. Bridges took 2-44 for the Fugitives.
