DANE Espen Kofstad produced a sensational finish to his first round at the ISPS Wales Open, and he did it in front of the European Ryder Cup captain, writes Michael Pearlman.
At the first event where players can accrue Ryder Cup points, Kofstad finished birdie, birdie, birdie, eagle at holes 15-18 to march into the lead at seven under par in front of playing partner Paul McGinley, who finished one under.
England’s Chris Wood and Mark Foster are two strokes behind Kofstad on five under.
