NEWPORT County's small squad looks set to be stretched further with the news that left wing-back Andy Sandell is a big doubt for Saturday's trip to Scunthorpe United.
The defender, who captained the Exiles during Tuesday's 3-0 Capital One Cup exit at West Bromwich Albion, is struggling to make the League Two clash due to a foot injury.
Manager Justin Edinburgh said Sandell has been carrying the injury for some time and aggravated it during the defeat to the Baggies.
The County boss said Sandell is "unlikely to feature" on Saturday but he does have fellow defender Tony James back in contention after he shook off a hamstring injury.
Ismail Yakubu also trained today but has not yet recovered fully from a calf strain and will probably not be risked at Glanford Park.
Edinburgh also confirmed that he hopes to bring in another midfielder before Monday's transfer deadline.
