SOUTH Wales Scorpions’ star winger Dalton Grant from Newport has been named in August’s Championship One’s team of the month.
The 23-year-old, who has represented Great Britain at Under-18 level, enjoyed two outstanding performances in recent weeks.
He scored a try in the narrow 30-28 home defeat in Neath against London Skolars before bagging two away in the 35-22 setback at Wrexham against the North Wales Crusaders.
That put his total to 18 tries in as many matches in2013 and this honour goes alongside his inclusion in last week’s team of the week.
Grant was delighted with both accolades.
“I’m really pleased to be recognised in this way,” he said.
“We’ve all worked hard this season and it’s good that the powers that be and continuing to recognise our performances.
“Thanks to all the players for supporting me in the tries that I’ve scored throughout the season.”
Scorpions coach Dave Clark added: “It’s great than Dalton continues to be recognised in this way. He’s been one of our players of the season and has worked really hard.
“He deserves all the honours that come his way. Hopefully he’ll be in the team of the year too – he deserves it.”
