NEWPORT Gwent Dragons head to Edinburgh on Friday looking to end a 18-month wait for back-to-back league wins.

Those looking for good signs will be encouraged by the venue last time they did enjoy successive RaboDirect Pro12 successes - Murrayfield in March 2012 the week after beating Cardiff Blues.

The Rodney Parade region got their campaign off to a flying start with victory against Ulster last weekend and new director of rugby Lyn Jones is looking to foster winning habit.

“It’s a great feeling to turn up for games knowing and believing you are going to win," he said. "After what’s gone on over the last few years, that is not there for this group.

“They are just lacking confidence and the Ulster game will help that. What’s important for me is to make sure these players turn up to win, not to go there with a defeatist attitude, looking to make up the numbers or go away with a bonus point.

“We have to be realistic with our ability and we have to look at whether we are good enough to go to Edinburgh and win. The answer to that is YES in capital letters.

“Edinburgh will be disappointed from their result against Munster and we expect a kick back from them. Just like last week I expect it to be a tight game going into the last quarter.”

The Dragons will be without wing Tom Prydie in Edinburgh after he injured his ankle against Ulster. The Wales speedster should be back in contention for the home game against the Scarlets on Friday, September 20.

His place in an extended squad is taken by Matthew Pewtner while there are returns for locks Robert Sidoli and Ian Nimmo.
