NEWPORT Gwent Dragons Under-18s were denied at the death by their Ospreys counterparts in Bridgend on Wednesday evening, writes Chris Kirwan.
Byron Hayward’s young guns headed to the Brewery Field looking for their first win of the season after being beaten by Cardiff Blues in the capital and drawing with the Scarlets at Cross Keys’ Pandy Park.
It was looking good when they led 10-6 in the closing stages courtesy of wing Lloyd Lewis’ try and five points from the boot of fly-half Connor Goode.
However, Ospreys centre Joe Thomas scored under the sticks with Luke Price converting to give the hosts the lead for the first time.
The Dragons had a late chance to share the spoils but scrum-half Owen Davies, who had taken over the kicking duties after Goode had been replaced, missed with a penalty attempt.
